What is a family car? “Family Car” is not a technical term in reality but still one can not refer any car as a family car stating it’s a fact. The term family car usually refers to a regular sedan which comes into basic and common usage. Sedans have gained quite some hype in the world of cars and that has lead to the development of so many sedans that it becomes difficult to choose which one to buy. Companies also continue improving the technologies used in sedans and keep on releasing one good sedan after the other in the process trying to capturing the market as far as possible.
One company that excels in marketing is Toyota. It has been winning the hearts of millions of people by providing them with such cars for over a decade. Now this is what a true auto manufacturer is like. In this time they have gained a lot of experience and along with that much reputation in every type of vehicle too. One of the strong points that Toyota has is the experience in producing sedans. This has been made possible due to the many lines of cars which have been running on the road for quite a time. And in these years we’ve witnessed the improvement in the technologies used.
The Corolla has been one of the proud trademarks that has lead to the improvement of the experience too. Recently a new model of the Corolla was also launched which was startling as the previous versions of the same car. And as always it has lived up to the expectations of all the fans. The Corolla 2009 or the Corolla E-140 is the tenth generation of the Corolla trademark. In Japan it is now known as the Corolla Axio in which Axio means “Things with Value”. A second version of the Corolla Axio or the performance version of the ca is known as the Corolla Axio GT. It has a GT emblem gear shift knob which gives a sporty look to the car. A TRD Turbo Aero grill has also been included in the front along with a front spoiler. A side mud guard rests along with the 17-Inch wheels which lead to the rear spoiler at the end.
This was the deal in Japan but things were quite different in the US. The American Corolla is referred to as the Corolla E-150. The E-150 is sold by the variation of 5 different trims. These include Standard, S, LE, XLE and XRS. In Canada the Corolla goes by four different trims. The S version of the Corolla includes a spoiler along with underskirts. The interior is included with silver interior highlights. The XRS goes more on the performance side. It has a larger 2.4 Liter engine which is supported by rear disc brakes. A sport tuned suspension has also been included along with standard stability and traction control.
The base and S trims are available with a five-speed manual or a four speed automatic transmission. The LE and XLE are provided with standard automatic transmission only. The XRS trim comes with a 2.4 Liter 2AZ I4 engine. The same engine has been used in the Toyota Camry too. The engine is powerful enough to provide up to 158 hp at 118 kW. This power is provided with a choice of a five speed manual or automatic transmission. The Corolla takes 7.9 seconds to start from 0 mph to 60 mph. The economy rating of fuel consumption is nearly 27 miles per gallon and goes down to 35 miles per gallon on a highway.
The Corolla has yet again shown improvement in the technology used in the car. So we all know that no matter others are affected by recession or not Toyota has improved further again!
