The Top 5 for all 6 days was a 1948 TUCKER TORPEDO for $2,915,000.00, 1947 BENTLEY MARK VI COACHWORKS BY FRANAY for $2,750,000.00, 1954 MERCEDES-BENZ 300SL GULLWING for $2,200,000.00, 1933 PIERCE-ARROW SILVER ARROW for $2,200,000.00 and a 1954 DE SOTO ADVENTURER II for $1,430,000.00.

There were also 4 other cars that sold for over $1 million, a 1928 DAIMLER P.1.50 VEE FRONT ROYAL LIMOUSINE for $1,155,000.00, a 1930 ISOTTA FRASCHINI TIPO CABRIOLET for $1,100,000.00, 1930 DUESENBERG J for $1,045,000.00 and a 1964 FORD FAIRLANE 500 CUSTOM 2 DOOR HARDTOP for $1,000,000.00.

The Scottsdale auction started off on Tuesday and the top 5 results were dominated by Ford and Chevy. The highest selling car on Tuesday was a 1956 FORD F-100 CUSTOM PICKUP for $58,300.00, followed by a 1957 CHEVROLET CAMEO PICKUP for $57,200.00, a 1969 CHEVROLET CAMARO COUPE YENKO RE-CREATION for $56,650.00, a 1968 CHEVROLET CORVETTE CONVERTIBLE for $55,000.00 and finally a 1965 FORD THUNDERBIRD CONVERTIBLE for $55,000.00. No word yet on what the Jordin Sparks “Playboy Pink” classic mustang convertible went for.

The Thursday entertainment list for the Barrett Jackson show included the Dress for success trends show, the CRAVE stylists and Fashion show, another VIP and Media preview party, and the international “Fiesta of Four Flags” fashion and food party. Dodge and Bentley made a showing in the top 5 for Thursday with a 2010 DODGE CHARGER NASCAR NATIONWIDE RACE CAR topping the list at $250,000.00 followed by a 1968 FORD MUSTANG CUSTOM FASTBACK for $242,000.00, a 2004 BENTLEY CONTINENTAL GT for $128,700.00 a 1967 CHEVROLET CORVETTE CONVERTIBLE for $113,300.00 and ending the top 5 list for Thursday was a 1969 CHEVROLET CAMARO CUSTOM CONVERTIBLE for $110,000.00.

Friday went to the dogs with the Pet Pawshion Show, it also gave the media another VIP and Media preview party, and the much acclaimed Barrett-Jackson Culinary & Wine Fest. A Plymouth and a Shelby made it to the top 5 for Friday but the top slot went to Chevy again with a 1962 CHEVROLET CORVETTE CUSTOM CONVERTIBLE for $357,500.00 followed by a 1964 FORD THUNDERBOLT 2 DOOR for $242,000.00, a 1968 PLYMOUTH BARRACUDA SUPER STOCK for $242,000.00, a 1968 SHELBY GT500 CONVERTIBLE for $220,000.00 and finally a 1970 FORD MUSTANG BOSS 302 FASTBACK for $209,000.00 to wrap up the Friday top 5 list.

The stars were shinning on Saturday both on an off the auction floor with the “Jazz, Jewelry & Bedazzled Brunch” Another VIP preview party that includes a “Beach Bunnies Fashion Show” and the “Icing: The Million Dollar Diamond & Dessert Show”. The 2012 Scottsdale Barrett Jackson auction finished with it’s final top 5 list going to a 2010 CHEVROLET CAMARO SS MILITARY TRIBUTE for $175,000.00, 1932 FORD HI-BOY CUSTOM ROADSTER for $150,000.00, a 1971 DODGE CHALLENGER CONVERTIBLE for $126,500.00, a 1966 OLDSMOBILE CUTLASS 442 2 DOOR HARDTOP for $121,000.00 and a 1998 BENTLEY AZURE CONVERTIBLE for $88,000.00

If you missed the Scottsdale Arizona auction you can start making plans for the Palm Beach Florida auction being held on April 5-7 of 2012. Barrett Jackson is already taking consignments for the show and tickets should start going on sale soon. There are also Barret Jackson auctions held in Las Vegas and Orange County later this year.

One of the most recognized auctions in the world is currently underway. The Scottsdale Barrett Jackson is being held at Westworld of Scottsdale in Scottsdale Arizona Jan 16-22cd. The Barrett Jackson Auctions usually have an eclectic selection of car and this year’s auction is no different.

Barrett Jackson Tickets

Ticket prices vary tremendously depending on the day, how long you plan on staying and if you qualify for one of the discount tickets. Week passes go from $160 to $80 with the online tickets going at about half price so it’s well worth going to the online Barrett Jackson Ticket sales instead of paying at the gate.

If you can’t get tickets and see the show in person, Barrett Jackson also does video footage of the auction so you can check out some of the top sales on TV from the comfort of your own home.

To be expected there is an impressive list of some of the most beautifully restored classic cars you can imagine, mixed in with the classic are usually a large number of customized rods, this year’s lineup include a Chevy hot rod hearse, a recreation of the “Mystery Machine” from Scooby Doo, a “Hello Kitty” VW bug, the “Bumble Bee” Camaro, and Jordin Sparks “Playboy Pink” classic Mustang. You will often see some of the cars showcased from some of the larger auto shows; one of the notable auto show entries is a General Motors SEMA Show Vehicle, a Hummer H3.

Other Barrett Jackson Shows

The Scottsdale Barrett Jackson is one of 4 Barrett Jackson auctions that are held each year. There is also an auction held June 22-24 in Orange County, California, The Palm Beach Barrett Jackson is held April 5-7 this year and the 2012 Las Vegas Barrett Jackson auction is Sept 20-22. The Scottsdale auction is the original and was first held in 1971, as Barrett Jackson Auctions became more popular the additions auctions were set up in the other three states.

While the Scottsdale auction is still one of the larger shows, the others each have their own distinct flavor getting more cars from a particular region of the United States. For example the 2011 Orange County Barrett Jackson sold Tony Hawks customized 2011 Mustang GT dubbed the “Hawkized Stang” Celebrity cars are pretty popular are the at the Various Barrett Jackson Auctions.

California is the home of hundreds of classic car shows and auto shows. Ranging from small charity, high school and private business events (restaurants and others) to mid sized city and chamber cars shows to the large international Auto Shows California has them all and a lot of them.

Auto Shows
Southern California also has a couple of the major International Auto shows. These shows feature mostly previews of the next years models from the manufacturers as well as concept cars that give us a possible look in the future and at the very least give us an idea of the newest automotive technology.

One of the biggest auto shows is the LA Auto Show usually held in November.

2012 Car Shows

One of the first major car shows of the year is the Grand National Roadster Show held in Pomona, CA the last weekend in January. The Harley-Davidson Classic Car Show is also held in January in Los Angeles.

The Edelbrock Rev’ved Up 4 Kids Car Show has already submitted information for their May 6th Show. This marks one of our first shows for submitted for the 2012 car show year.

One of Northern California’s major automotive events is underway in San Francisco this weekend. The San Francisco Auto Show is held by the San Francisco Chronicle and SFGate.com and presented by AutoTrader.com.

San Francisco International Auto Show

The SF Auto show is an international event showcasing the 2012 model year cars from most of the major manufacturers around the world including Acura, Aston Martin, Audi, Bentley, BMW, Buick, Cadillac, Chevy, Chrysler, Dodge, Fiat, Ford, Fisker, GMC, Honda, Hyundai, infinity, Jaguar, Jeep, Kia, Lamborghini, Land-Rover, Lexus, Lincoln, Lotus, McLaren, Mazda, Mini, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Porsche, Rolls Royce, Scion, Subaru, Toyota, VW and Volvo.

Public Transportation

The show is to be held in the Moscone Center at 747 Howard Street San Francisco, CA 94103. This is in the heart of San Francisco making it easily reached by several of the different public transportation networks like Bart, Muni Metro, and CalTrain. Many people have asked if there is a relationship between the California Mille and the
Mille Miglia Tribute. There is no relationship.

In short:

• The California Mille is a nonprofit event.
  The Mille Miglia Tribute is a commercial event.
• For all its twenty-one years the California Mille has endeavored to preserve the spirit of the original Mille Miglia .
  The Mille Miglia Tribute has yet to demonstrate its understanding of the Mille Miglia.
• The California Mille focuses on entries that could have qualified for the Mille Miglia (l927-1957).
  The Mille Miglia Tribute has recently announced an “encore” class for newer cars to bolster an apparent lack of interest by the historic motoring community.
• The California Mille selects interesting back roads that recall the Italian countryside.
  The Mille Miglia Tribute designers have apparently never driven the Mille Miglia or similar events as their route includes traffic-congested highways that cross the San Francisco Peninsula— not once but twice.

How did this confusion between our two motoring events occur? In the past, the Mille
Miglia re-creation and the California Mille embodied the same spirit as the original race.

When the Tribute was announced, Stratus anticipated 15,000 applicants from which the
group would choose 300 to make the drive. Accepted entries would pay an $8,000 fee.
That was the plan.

As of today, “value pricing” has kicked in with discounts offered to car clubs who can
produce cars—whether reflective of the original event or not.

The California Mille does not wish the Tribute ill, but it is sad to see such a proud and historic motoring event corrupted in a quest for cash over values.

Another great year of car shows is in the works! We’re looking forward to attending some of our old favorites again as well as stopping by a few new ones. One show we will be looking forward to is coming up this month, the 2011 Silicon Valley International Auto Show. While most of our shows are classic car shows this one highlights the newest models currently on the market. If you are wanting to get a preview of what your going to be seeing in the next model year or in the upcoming years this is the show to see. And unlike the classic car shows, your invited to set behind the wheel and get to know these car up close and personal.

Quickly following the International Car show in San Jose will be the always hot Sacramento Autorama in February. This ones got it all, specialty vehicles, classic cars, motorcycles, muscle cars, hot rods, and other fine custom cars.

A little further down the road is the Pacific Coast Dream Machines show.

This one even includes vintage warbirds, classics from the 40’s and 50’s and homebuilt aircraft, tricked out trucks and motorcycles, model-T fire engines, vintage busses, one-of-a-kind antique engines and tractors, helicopter and bi-plane rides, kinetic art, rolling sculptures.

Another of our Northern California Favorites is Kool April Nites. This week long celebration of classic cars dominants Redding California for most of a week, with show and shines throughout the week, the cruise on Friday night followed by music food and dancing to the oldies.

2011 just started and our 2011 Northern California car show calendar is already starting to fill up with other great shows. The American Graffiti Car show celebrates the cult classic show “American Graffiti” where many of the most memorable scenes of the show were shot in Petaluma California, the Grass Valley Car show is scheduled again in April and small high school and Chamber sponsored shows are scheduled through out the year. And we are just getting started! You can expect to see shows added to our calendar for every month of 2011, so stop by often and see shat is happening in your area!

One of the top car shows in Northern California is right around the corner. The Pacific Coast Dream Machines Show is on April 25 this year and as always it’s going to be a great one! Here are a few of the highlights.

20th Annual Pacific Coast Dream Machines Show, Half Moon Bay’s spectacular showcase of motorized mechanical marvels from throughout the 20th and 21st centuries — more than 2,000 ultra cool antique, vintage, classic, custom and exotic displays for public viewing. Automobiles ranging from hot rods, dragsters, customs, low riders,
imports, street machines and muscle cars to fanciful touring, luxury, and sports cars.

On Display will also be exceptional vintage warbirds, classics from the 40’s and 50’s and homebuilt aircraft, tricked out trucks and motorcycles, model-T fire engines, one-of-a-kind gas and steam-powered engines and tractors, rides in a helicopter, bi-plane and military trainer, kinetic art, rolling sculptures, extreme toys, mega-modified machines, military tanks, a special display of advanced “green” technology/alternative fuel vehicles.

The super sleek “Ack Attack” motorcycle streamliner — current world land speed record holder — will be among the special attractions at the Pacific Coast Dream Machines Show, Sunday, April 25, 2010 at Half Moon Bay Airport.

One of California’s largest car shows starts today in Sacramento California. Once again the Sacramento Autorama (the 2nd longest running indoor car show) looks like it’s going to be a great show! Last year the show attracted hundreds of the finest classic, vintage and modified cars in the US.

These shows have more than just great cars, last years show also included guest appearances by stars like “Debbie Dunning”, Candy Clark, and “Jo Young”, Bo Hopkins, from “American Graffiti”, Super Model Sandra Taylor, and Catherine Bach as Daisy Duke.

500 show cars competed inside of the huge Cal Expo building and Saturday saw the “Autorama Drive-in” with close to 400 vehicles.
