As they say, impatience is the new life and evidently Peugeot explained to us exactly what it means when they launched the all-new RCZ 2+2 coupe a fortnight before Frankfurt Motor Show. Also, first images of this masculine vehicle prove how faithful Peugeot’s designers have been to maintain the looks from the concept car.
Bottom line: RCZ is the best ever Pug in looks department with its head turning body and classy shape. Without anything more to ask for, Peugeot offers personalization in this mean machine with varied options like chrome and satin finish roof arches, a fully carbon made rooftop, alloys in 4 different colors including dark grey, polished black, matt black and diamante in 18 as well as 19 inch size, carbon door covers and much much more! Basically, this thing can provide a ride to 2 adults, but there are foldable seats at the back too, which can be used more often than not.
The interiors have undergone a transformation introducing photo-etched dials, cowed dials and central mounted clock with excellent quality material applied to it and an exclusive trimming that was not seen earlier.
There has been a constant urge in Peugeot’s garage to bring a change in aerodynamics of their vehicle, which is accomplished by RCZ. There is an active rear spoiler somewhat like you find finned in Audi TT or Porsche Boxster. It is electronically self-adjustable and changes position into two shapes as the car accelerates up.
And if you thought Peugeot makers exhausted with that, take another look. With a suspension height taking a dig by 20mm and a widening of front track by 54mm and rear by 72mm, leaving no comparison with the so-called “Peugeot Platform Two” vehicles.
Coming onto to the performance of the vehicle, it definitely compliments the dashing expression it makes with the look. The company will roll out one diesel and two petrol variants. The highest version of RCZ comes with 1.6-liter THP petrol engine, capable of producing 200 horsepower at 5,000 rpm and 188 lb at 1,700 rpm controlled by a 6-speed manual gearbox.
The car can notch 100 kmph in just 7.6 seconds, courtesy the powerful twin-scroll turbocharger engine. The braking system relies on disc brakes that are supported by hydraulic power steering system with Hill Assist system that can be switched off to unleash the car’s true spirit.
The RCZ will be out on streets by Spring 2010, when it will be built in Austria in an exclusive vehicle production center. Competing Peugeot’s RCZ will be the Audi TT, Volkswagen Scirocco and Hyundai Coupe.
