In Southern California and Ontario, Canada local law enforcement have taken punishment for street racing to the next level. The cars of those found participating in illegal street racing are literally crushed until tires burst and windows shatter. What is the motive behind this seeming cruel penalty?
Officers hope to discourage street racers by smashing these modified cars into mere ruble before their very eyes. Many of these convicted streets racers have put tens of thousands of dollars in into their cars and seeing their prized possession destroyed only feet away has had a profound effect on their attitude toward illegal street racing. One example of this is Maldonado, an 18 year old mechanic who after he had his car crushed, took the advise of the local police and started racing one of the legal race tracks in the area.
Some may wonder why law enforcement use such a severe punishment instead a simple fine or jail time. There are many reasons behind this sort of punishment for street racing. One of the reasons behind the punishment is the amount of people killed because of street races. Between March and June alone street races killed 15 people. Many these victims were innocent bystanders who just happen to be walking by when they were hit with by flying debris.
Another reason for the car crushing is that many of these car owners have replaced stock parts with stolen parts from other cars. A stolen transition was found in one car and a stolen engine was found in another.
If you racing on the streets of Southern California or Ontario, beware! Your car could be next.

I saw a video where they crushed a street racers car in California. What if the bank owns the car? What would happen then.

Good question. I don’t think a bank would be too happy about that. I would imagine that they would expect a full payback from the owner now that there is no collateral.

I totally agree with that kind of punishment. Because these kids will not really take seriously the jail punishment. It’s just right to see how their beloved cars are crashed into pieces.

That seems like fair punishment. Some street racers are so stupid…

Probably the only method to show those kids that street racing is illegal and downright dangerous.
