NorCalCars is proud to announce its new sponsorship of DP4×4.
Team DP4×4 is a competition “Rock Crawling” team based out of Pleasant Hill California. Rock Crawlers take off road 4×4ing to the extreme. Crevasses, rock walls, boulders and cliffs are just a few of the challenges these specially designed buggies encounter during a competition. National attention has helped this exciting motorsport take its place among the top extreme sports event in the nation.
NorCalCars looks forward to keeping up with the competitions and reporting on the results here on our blog. Team Dp4×4 first event of the year starts today April 11 and runs through April 13th in Perris CA. This first event is part of the W.E Rock Championship Series and looks to be an awesome event. Other competitions will include the Pro Rock Series and the Cal Rocs Series with the season ending on Sept 21 in Cougar Buttes CA.
Each event has several categories of teams Pro-Modified, Unlimited, Stock Modified and others. DP4×4 competes in the highly competitive category of Pro-Modified. Teams consist of a Driver (Jason Willis) and Spotter (Orlando Giannecchini) as well as a team of mechanics to keep these highly modified machines running in top form.
You can get a small taste of the terrain navigated during these competitions at DP4×4’s official site Team DP4×4. Stop by and check out why we feel this is the team to make it to the top this year!

How much that one weight? Not much I guess. so there are very much possibilities to have any accident.

I’ll have to check on the weight, I’m not sure.
These things are made for accidents though. I’ll be adding a picture of one of the competitors rolling down a hill in a cloud of dust. An important part of the team is the metal fabricators to keep these things looking great. Damage happens.
Full roll cage, racing harness (instead of seat belts), helmet, fire retardant suits. A lot goes into keeping the driver safe.

I guess that is not a light one too. At least there is a standard level of the weight.

How steep can the slope be before the vehicle can’t maneuver?

@Li Zhang
Interesting question. I’ll see if I can get Kristin back to answer that.

Li Zhang,
In response to your question: How steep can the slope be before the vehicle can’t maneuver?
Unfortunately the drivers of these buggys are not afraid of a challenge and never look at the slope as unobtainable. The will try and try to crawl the slope until the buggy determines that game is over by rolling over or simply dening the attempts. I am still shocked every now and then to see the slopes that these buggies are able to crawl.
