Toyota announced it will have a voluntary recall of some 2006 and 2007 Toyota RX 400h and Highlander Hybrid SUVs. At this point Toyota is only announcing that it will be recalling the vehicles. Construction of replacement parts is underway and Toyota will notify owners of affected vehicles by first class mail when sufficient parts have been prepared.

This defect can cause a part on the control board to overheat and pout the vehicle in a “Safe Driving Mode” where the vehicle will operate under reduced power. In more extreme cases the power supply circuit fuse will blow completely disabling the vehicle.
