Are you at risk? Wednesday, Toyota issued a recall on all Toyota Camry and Lexus ES 350 all weather floor mats because they are potential safety issue.

The problem with the mat is if it is not secured and installed properly, it could slide forward and lock the gas pedal in a pressed position, causing uncontrollable acceleration and possibly a severe accident. Owners of such mats will be contacted shortly letting them know when their mats will be replaced.

Toyota had this advise for those with all weather mats, “Until the replacement all-weather floor mat for the driver’s seating position is made available, customers should regularly verify that their floor mat is properly secured using the retaining hooks provided.”

If you are diving a new Toyota Camry or a Lexus ES 350 it might be wise to check and see if your mat is installed properly.
